Hey all,
I checked out a demo version of FS One at my LHS and got to fly the Supra sailplane for a little bit. Only problem is that I didn't find any thermals. I'm thinking about buying FS One, but I want to make sure that there are indeed thermals. Can anybody verify this? Is it a setting like in RealFlight?

Yes, there are thermals. It's a matter of loading the right weather set; there are several thermal sets, that correspond to different scenery.

Hi Brent,
There are quite a few thermals that you can select. If you go back to the LHS, go into the 'wind' selection menu and you'll get an alphabetic list of all of the various winds that are selectable. You'll have to scroll down to get to the thermals. I think there are something like 14 choices each varying in some manner (eg. diameter, spacing, strength, random variations etc).
If you're into sailplanes, you may also like the histart, hand launch, winch and tow-plane choices that are there too. Any of the power aircraft can be used as a tug if you like. You can also do dynamic soaring as well as the thermals and the DS winds have a variety of strength selections too.
While flying, you can also set an on-screen variometer that shows altitude, climb rate and speed (something else too I think?).
There's some FAQ's on the FS One and Inertiasoft websites related to thermalling. You might like to read them before you decide too.
cheers,
Dave
