Hello all,

I am starting a rebuild of a 1/3 scale vintage sailplane. The full scale bird was of rag/tube construction. In 30 years of building I have used only Monocote, Ultracote, Micafilm and "light" Polyfiber when an applied covering was needed. Can anyone list available covering materials that will simulate a fabric wing? Also, any opinions as to the best, difficulty of use and finished look would be greatly appreciated. In this application weight will not be a critical factor. What does concern me is color match, repairs, etc. The surfaces I will be covering are all balsa and Obechi sheeted over foam.

TIA,

Sean

Take a look at 21st Century Fabric. It's easier to apply than Monocote, and has a painted look to it. After shrinking, it also simulates the look that you require.

Ditto on the Worldtex / Solartex materials, and they are a pleasure to use.

( They are the same thing, ............... just different Distributor names. )
