Removing Balsa "Dings"

Looking for some advice on how to remove balsa dents and dings before covering. I read somewhere window cleaner or ammonia may do the trick.
If so, what's the technique ?

Moisture makes the compressed wood fibres expand - I normally just wet my finger and rub it in. I don't think chemicals are required.

Try applying a small amount of water to the ding and go over the area with an iron.

Ammonia is for bending. To get out the dings just water, as the others have said.
