I have decided to go with a 2.4ghz radio. And I'm pretty sure I want to go with the Spektrum DX6 or Futaba 6EX FASST. Any thoughts on which one is better? Both seem to be about the same cost.

I go with Futaba:

1) They've been doing SS longer
2) They don't use nearly the spectrum as Spektrum (more people can fly)
3) I don't like the feel of JR transmitters
4) They made sure they did it right the first time

I just wish there were inter-brand compatibility like we got from the NE5044 :(

Futaba 2.4G Transmitter/RX 6EX Full Range Heli/Air only $179.99 @ HeliHobby.com (http://www.helihobby.com/html/rc_helicopter_transmitter.html#PARTFUTK6900) and you won't have to wait till sometime in December for the full range Spectrum.

I'm running a Futaba 3PM 2.4 FASST in my SV27. No issues at all.

IMHO, in many ways. Lets compare specs:

10-model memory
ModelMatch
ServoSyncRoller/selector user interface
Attractive and ergonomic design Strictly IMHO, looks better than the Futaba. Advantage Spektrum
Proven DSM2 technology
Rudder dual-rate
Large LCD display Bigger than the Futaba. Advantage Spektrum
Integrated timer
Contrast Adjustment
Dual-speed trim scroll
Model name and type
Throttle cut
Trainer Mode
Model Copy
Travel adjustment
Sub-trim
Servo monitor
Dual rate and exponential
Compatible with any existing DSM and DSM2 receivers
Airplane Programing Features: Flaps, P-mixes, Dual aileron, V-tail, Delta, Differential
Heli Programming Features: Gyro adjust, Graphic throttle curve, Graphic pitch curve, P-mixes, Revo mix, Swash type (Normal, and CCPM 120)
Adjustable stick length
Direct trim access display

Futaba 6EX:

Standard Programming Functions :

Six model memory. Advantage Spektrum
Model Type – select airplane or heli programming in one transmitter.
No Model Match Advantage Spektrum
No Servo Sync Advantage Spektrum
No Integrated Timer? Advantage Spektrum
No Scroll Wheel Advantage Spektrum
No Model Copy Advantage Spektrum
No Contrast Adjustment Advantage Spektrum

Servo Reversing – on all six channels.
Dual Rate/Exponential – for ailerons, elevator and rudder.
End Point Adjustment – fine-tunes servo throws on all six channels.
Digital Trim – stores trim settings for each model for aileron, elevator, rudder and throttle.
Fail Safe – a safety throttle setting in case of loss of transmitter signal.
Battery Fail Safe – moves the throttle to a preset position when the airborne pack reaches 3.8V.
Stick Mode – choose from Mode 1 through 4.
Range Checking – Power Down reduces transmitter output power for up to one minute, allowing range checking from 50 paces away.
Changeable Throttle Stick – select ratchet for airplanes or smooth for helis.
Adjustable Stick Length – choose the length that suits your flying style.
Airplane-Specific Programming Functions:

Wing Mixing – for flaperon, flap trim, V-tail and elevon.
Trainer System – with the transmitter as either the master or student system. Compatible with other Futaba systems.
Throttle Cut – pre-programmed for safely shutting off the engine.
Programmable Mixing (1 & 2) – two different mixes allow any two channels to be combined.
Helicopter-Specific Programming Functions:

5-Point Normal and Idle Up Throttle/Pitch Curves.
Throttle Hold – for autorotation.
Revo (Revolution Mixing) – mixes rudder and pitch together.
Gyro Mixing – two gyro gain settings can be programmed and selected during flight.
Swash to Throttle Mixing – corrects slowing of the engine's speed caused by the swashplate.
Swashplate Types – choose from 1S (independent aileron, pitch and elevator servos linked to the swashplate), 3S (120° CCPM), or 3E (90° CCPM).
Swash AFR – Adjustable Function Rate, for use with 1S, 3S or 3E swash types.

All the other programming and Airplane/Heli stuff seems comparable.

What Kmot said! In fact, I'm considering selling my 9303(which I love) to go with the DX6i. It's got virtually the same features and is $180! I'll keep my DX6 for my boats.
