Hi fellow Ezoners,

a collegue and I are going on a conference in Reno beginning of January. Since Sweden is pretty cold this time of year (20 F) we haven't been flying for a while. (We also tend to get bored with the simulators pretty soon.) We are both interested in DS and will have a go as soon as the transmitter will work outside and we find a suitable spot.

We have understood that the DS "elite" is living in CA, true? Are there any DS'ers flying in CA this time of the year (or in January)?

It would be great to drop by and watch!

Slope flying in California is pretty much a year-round thing. Provided it's not raining, you'll probably be able to find people flying (I'd give locations, but I'm in southern California).

Thanks,

I'll see if I can talk my collegue into travelling south!

Bit closer than than Calif, and probably a bit cooler than there too! We still fly tho especially if it is on a DS hill.

Wow , ya here that Guys, DS Elite in Caifornial !! Come on down the hill to the Bay Area , it's closer than Southern Cal but not as Flashie and we DS here all year.

I gota give credit where it is due though, the Brits invented slope soaring and that allong with the Rolls Royce Merlin puts them at the top of my list for the 20th Century.

God save the Queen

Hi all,

@Ade
I spent a week of my vacation along the Cornwell coast this summer (without bringing my slopers = BAD mistake). I might visit and fly another time but right now I guess England isn't much better than Sweden (weatherwise)? But I know it is possible to fly during the winter. We were some guys who flew on a slope in -5 degrees C (23 F) with a wind of 19 m/s without problems (with a Zagi)!

@Duke58
Sounds great we might drop by, will discuss with the other preson in the car.... :-)
