Hello

I need help

I checked inventory on 6.25.2007, and I asked my friend in LA to send me a
Lehner 2250/10 turn and a couple of other parts to use as the twin drive
for my Catamaran Hull.

But, Chris Fine sent me a 2250/15 instead of the 2250/10, so I sent it back
immediately before Fine Design went on a vacation.

I already had a Lehner 2250/10 turn, so I needed another Lehner 2250/10
turn.

But, I still didn't receive the motor. When I asked for my money back, they
said they'll give it back right away, but it's been already a month since
they told me that. Also, they have been ignoring my emails and phone calls.

They are still lying to me like the boy who cried wolf. Maybe Fine Design
is out of business or having logistical problems? If anyone has knowledge
about what's going on in Fine Design, please let me know.

I submitted a complaint to the credit card company. If anyone is
considering ordering something from Fine Design, he or she should think
about it very carefully or just order from elsewhere. I attached the copy
of the order and the emails Chris sent me.

HI , All Here Thanks FDM

You should be very careful before casting aspersions on someone, especially a business. ;)

Also, ordering an item from Europe often takes time---. :o

Well, you know when you use a credit card, the money is almost to the seller, and uses your money which creates interest in the sellers pocket. Lets say 75 days on $500.00 at the going rate adds up. Now on the other side of the coin, if purchaser lives in far east, buy from the closest dealer in that area. Also the more expensive the toys are, it seems it takes longer to get these toys. I wanted to buy a kit from U.K., but the postage was out of this world and no insurance on the product, so i settled on a cheaper unit. I'm not picking on certain parts of the world, just typing what i've observed on different forums. Best of luck on your situation. I don't think the person is out of line, person just wants some answers which he is entitled to, even a email from dealer would ease the purchasers mind, that's not much to ask for!

I believe a business should be very careful about refunds. I take money seriously, and when a business does not treat mine seriously, I feel upset. Abe Lincoln treated refunds seriously (well, actually it was an overcharge). It is not "casting aspersions" to report the facts, good or bad. If a business can find time to run my credit card quickly, then they can find time to run a refund just as quickly, if they are honest.

I hope you receive satisfaction Mr. Kim.

Eh? How is he casting aspersions? He is just stating facts and he is within his right to be pissed off or frustrated with the lack of response.

Here are a few links (Googled for "Lehner Fine Design" or "Lehner refund" to find them).

http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/archive/index.php/t-103516.html - last post

You can find a lot of good ones the same way.

I'm sure if you wanted you could find good or bad about anybody. It pays to Google before buying anything - as the old saying goes, caveat emptor.

Bong Joon Kim,

It is disappointing when a dealer shafts a customer. Besides being bad for the customer it is bad for the hobby. Reading the forum posts on the links Andy Kunz supplied convinces me that this person is not the least honorable. I suggest you consider filing a complaint with the New York State Bureau of Consumer Protection by going to www.consumer.state.ny.us . They may not be able to do anything for you but your complaint will be on record. Repairing your motor without authorization should be a violation they will investigate.

I would also urge you to follow up with the posts on the other forums and get them to also file complaints. Maybe if Mr. Fine's file gets large enough the State of New York will take a look at his business practices. it may also be appropriate to inform his supplier of the issue you are having with him.

Good luck to you.
