Help LTM-1
I have a 1/12 scale Miss Bud boat. Read the F & Qs & got my boat running good. Now my problem is after 3 or 4 laps the boat get water inside and will not get back on plaine. I ran the boat in a water tank with water hooked to the inlet & no water got insdie. Found no cracks in the hull. I think the water is coming in around the engine cover. Is anyone having this same problem?
Thank you, LTM-1

It happens, especially with fast boats. Two things you can do.

First, get some "hatch tape" and tape over all gaps and seals before you put the boat in the water. A common source for this tape is at sporting goods stores. Ask for a roll of "hockey tape".

Second, get an "auto-bailer" and install it in the transom area. It will allow any water inside the hull to escape but won't allow water in when the boat is sitting still.

Water can enter stuffing tube if stuffing tube has no liner or stuffing tube is to big for flex cable. Another is if you have alot of slop in the area of the prop. The strut may need to be relined. Now a pro and con deal is usage of liner in stuffing tube. I sand my cable till almost smooth except where it enter coupler, so liner presents no friction problem or drag. Sometime ago ( years ) , a person on the RED forum said vaccuum or airtightness drew water in like air pressure would do. The answer to that would put a pin hole in the top to equalize the air pressure, problem solved. Now this is one answer but there could be other problems, this is just one! Have a good day!
