Any engine collectors out there? I wouldn't call myself a collector but it seems that I find myself buying odd engines just because they are cool or unusual.

I've recently gotten interested in old antique spark ignition engines. I now have four of them. This started with an old 1945 OK Super 60 given to me by my dad when I was a kid. I recently found it in a box completely disassembled just as I left it 30 years ago. Well I cleaned it and put it together in hopes of getting it running again. This got me interested in the old sparkers in general and I aquired 3 more in fine condition. The oldest one is a 1938 OK 60 Special .

I've also got some giant scale and miscelaneous 2 and 4 stroke glow engines. So far I've only got planes or kits for half of them.

Who else is fascinated by engines?

Me !

My own engines go back to the '60s, but some are now 'collectables'.

The Frog 1.75cc sparker (below) is earlier, and was recently restored - runs better on glow than petrol fuel.

I regularly use its diesel brother, 1cc version, in a vintage f/f model.

Tony, I read in The Vintage Model Aero Engine Page (http://homepages.tesco.net/~alanh/) that the Frog 1.75 was "reputed to not have the power to pull the skin off a rice pudding" :D. A very cool looking 'relic' however !

Here's my oldest so far, the '38 OK special. I haven't tried running it yet.

The report was wrong - it's definitely got even less power than that!
