Hi all,

The muffler on my Tunder Tiger GP42 engine is leaking fuel.

Is it posible to use silicone to seal the two halves of the muffler?

Does it have to be heat proof or will normal silicone do the job?

Thanks guys

If you are talking about the muffler to engine exhaust seal, I have used gasket paper with success. I use hi-temp silicone for a more premanent installation but paper gasket is easier if you plan on removing the muffler for inspection etc. If the muffler flange is not machined, it helps to face it with a 400 wet/dry with WD40 on a plate glass.

If you are talking about the muffler halves leaking or falling off, I would use a cold weld epoxy like JB weld.

I use automotive RTV(red silicone) bought from auto part store to seal everything on my engines. They work the best!

The best to seal both halves of a muffler is the white tape used to prevent leaking from faucets or showerheads....

Do you mean teflon thread seal tape? Wouldn't have thought it would stand the heat.

Yes, it does, and very well, remember, is teflon, the same material in your frying pan...
