Hi guy,
I am actually building a discontinued kit from billing boat, I have to face a strange problem for me.
I need to paint my plastic fittings so I bought at the hobby shop some paint for polystyeren plastic model. Unfortunatly for me the paint seems to dissolve ( ) the plastic, probably the solvant, but I have now no clue on which sort of paint I can use now.
Any idea, name of brand on which I can trust ?
thanks in advance

The only hobby paint that should cause a problem is Floquil, which uses a "hot" solvent.
All others- Pactra/Testors/Polly/Tamiya, in enamel or acrylic, should be fine.
Which one caused the problem?

Yes Aerominded, Tamiya was my usual paint in Europe, but I haven't find it here so I have to try something else... :censored:

Model Master (Testors) is available in enamel and acrylic... neither will cause problems with plastic, unless something very strange was used in the model!
Are you sure the plastic is dissolving? Or is the paint just not sticking well? It might look like "holes" in the paint, sometimes called "fish eyes". In this case, you should wash the parts to remove surface oils. Use warm soapy water and a brush, and dry well.

Knowing some of the Billing Boats plastic parts are quite greasy, I say it's the release agent (mould grease) that's causing the paint to bubble and can also ripple.
Again as Pat said, clean with a mild detergent (the stuff you wash the dishes with) and warm water. Alcohol also works too.
