I recently picked up a Graupner Sea-Commander motor yacht on ebay. Been looking for a motor yacht for quite some time now. Boat is about 35.5" long. The instructions mostly cover a single motor/prop with dual rudders set up. The box also shows a really cool 3 motor installation. I want to go with 2 motors and 2 props. I have a Traxxas evx esc I want to use and was thinking of using the Titan marine motors. With these motors should I use gears or direct to the prop? Also I only have 1 shaft and prop that came with kit. I'd like to us 2 metal props and drive shafts with struts. I was thinking I would use the hardware from the Dumas Trojan for the shafts, struts, and props. See any problems with that? Any help would be geat. Haven't built a kit like this before. Thanks.

I've seen that one on Ebay a couple times and it looks like a cool motor yacht to build. Keep us up to date!!!

Thanks. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. So far not having any luck getting suggestions though. Is this the right forum for my questions? Didn't have any luck on the scale forum either.

2 500 motors would be sweet if you wanted to make it really trick you could run 2 speed controlers with a 4 chanel box so you can use it true to life i.e spin her around on the spot n so on, true lookin on here and maybe copyin the lay out click me (http://www.mymodelboats.net/dmb/salina/salina.html) go to the bottom then look at the pics :)
are you going to run lead acid?

Use the Titans!!! There great motors! Run them direct drive with a 7.2v battery for each one. At that voltage the fan cooled Titans wont even break a sweat,so watercooling probably wont be necessary.Wire them to be counterotating with right and lefthand props. Im not familiar with the Dumas Trojan's running hardware, you need to know all the dimensions of the hardware and then see if it will work. Check the angle the propshafts enter the hull on the Trojans hardware and see if it will work for your Sea Commander. Mackmarine makes struts and stuffing tubes, check out there online catalog. Hope this helps a little and don't be shy about asking questions.

Thanks for the suggestions. Love the Salina. I might have gone with one except I didn't see it for sale in the US till right after I bought the Sea-Commander. I think I would like the 2 esc version but then I'd go with the Robbe Navy Radio. Since I already have an esc that will be something to do later down the road.

Thanks a lot. Now I at least have motors and esc set. Mack does have everything I would need. Do they have good service?

porchejim911, all I can say about Mackmarine is, when I order from them I get my items in a reasonable amount of time and Ive never had any trouble with any of them. I think I would have heard negative comments on this forum if there where too many problems with their customer service. Thats the good thing about these forums, you get to hear different peoples opinion on various companies in our hobby, after a while you get a picture of how they do business.
