Ideas for a camcorder pan platform ?

I'd like to move my little Sony Handycam from my Logo24 to my Moviestar's cockpit with some pan capabilities...

the weight of the camcorder is about 400 grams (14.10 ounce).

Any ideas about how to do a pan platform? (something more robust than just putting the camcorder on the servo...)

I think a big metal geared digital servo with the camera mounted at it's balance point will probably be enough.

Yes, it's a big load and yes, you will have to take servo current into consideration, but a big digital servo has plenty of strength for a camera that weighs less than a pound.

I reiterate though that mounting at the balance point would be a very good idea.
