View Full Version : Question Servo/receiver question for 74" Yak 54

I'm building an EF 74" Yak and am using a DX7 radio with AR7000 receiver and high torque servos HS-5955TG rated a 333 in/oz. Can I plug them straight into my receiver? Will it deliver enough current for them during stressful maneuvers? I'm probably going to use a Lipo receiver pack and a regulator also. Which regulators are good for this application?
Thanks,
Kevin

It might work on such a small plane...
But; on larger models the combination of LiIon receiver batteries and a lot of load have caused some serious crashes. Some receivers are more sensitive to this than others.
I prefer a power distribution gadget, like Powerbox or Smartfly. The current to the servoes are not delivered through the receiver then. Short and thick wires in combination with good connectors is a must.
I have 4600mAh Fromecoes for RX in a 3D-plane (2,2meter) with Relia regulators. This rather "small" plane is within the safe range, voltage drop accidents (using ordinary receivers) seems to occur on 2,6 meter planes, and bigger.
I don`t know how the 2,4GHz receivers deal with voltage drops, but have read there are problems with the oldest 6100-receivers.

I'm running 5 JR 8611A's through the rec in mine. All powered by a 6v duralite reg and 2s FP 1500 Evo 20. No problems. After five 7-8 min flights the pack will take 200-250 mah.
BTW. there is an exellent thread on this airplane starting here:

I am running a 7.4 2000 mah thunderpower lipo with a 6v regulator(I think its an mpi) on a large 80" 14 lb. aerobatic plane. Servos are 5 hs 965 mg's. I pull maybe 150 mah's per flight, never had a problem.
