As usual, Draganfly is the first and best source for Thunder Power. This time it's the V2 and High Performance generation of batteries. Full Details (http://www.rctoys.com/pr/2007/10/05/thunder-power-rc-launches-extreme-v2-high-performance-lipos/).
Next time it might just be a fun little helicopter.

Sweet... are the dimensions correct? (measured in inches?) Maybe i'm just missing something...

I see in the banner ad's
"More cycle life" Increased power
How much of an improvement on cycle life?
Specifically is the Cycle life better or worse than the prolite line?

Looks great!!
When do you expect to have some of the 5S 3850 V2s in?

I see that TP now has a HP cell, is that like the Flightpower Evo Lite line?

Are you talking about NiCd's ?

Whats a Nicd? ;)
Actually check Rctoys website and you will see the "High Performance" TP cells.

The HP are a new line of "budget" cells. cost about 30% less than the V2
( ie 3SHP 1900/164 grams/ ~$60 versus 3SXV /170 grams/~$85
Third option would be the much lighter 3S2100/142 grams/$70 but the max current is lower)

I followed the link the the details on these new packs on the TP site. The discharge curves plot cell voltage over current for each discharge rate 2C - 25C. Does anyone have a plot of the per cell voltage, current and pack temperature over TIME for each of these discharge rates 2C - 25C?
As it stands the graphs kinda sorta suggests that the run-time for each of the different discharge rates is roughly the same. Based on some recent measurements with the V1 2200 extremes, I'm a little unsure.
I'd love to see a plot of a 3S V2 extreme (or any other 3S pack for that matter) supplying 25C (50amps continuous) at 10.0 volts or better for a 4-6min run with a peak pack temperature below 140F and a resting voltage above 11.1volts.
Better yet I'd like to see graphs of the same pack performing that cycle for 100 cycles.

You will never see such a graph.
25C = 2.4 minutes (60/25)

Looks interesting. I can't wait for the spec sheet to updated. Would like to know how much they weigh (2200 V2 7.2, 11.1, 14.8 and 18.5 all weigh 170g). I've been burned by exaggerated specs before.

Agree what ever the math works out to be in run time.
Would love to see pack run at 20+ C fully charged down to 10Volts for 100 cycles and see what she looks like.

How about 20C, down to 2.8 volts/cell.
This is for a 30C rated 5000 mahr cell, probably 1/2 generation behind the latest and greatest. Source is the ( very well known) manufacturer.
The deep discharge could be one reason why it seems to be losing capacity.

Sorry for the delayed response, guys. I didn't realize this thread has been moved here.
The dimensions should be pretty close. They are quoted in mm.

Micro, the cycle life improvement is over the original eXtreme packs. I hope the V2s will show the same life span as the Pro Lites. Expecting more probably isn't realistic. We'll all be watching the forums and our own experiences over the next 12 months.

I miss the good ol days when I could put up the discharge plots on new 2s packs with our CBA. Now you need the CBA expander and a 1s cell from TP to get it done. We don't have the expander.

I have four of the 2200 V2 5s packs coming from TP as warranty replacement for four 2070 extremes. What great service.

We're still waiting on Thunder Power to ship them. Our best guess is October 23.

It's disappointing to own a pack that doesn't live up to expectations. This is where Thunder Power's customer service makes a name for itself by doing right by their customers. They want you back in the pleasurable air.
