I've been trying to hook up my RCAP to to my r/c car but I don't have a spare channel connected to a switch. I have CH1, CH2 and BATT. I'm using CH1 for the steering output from the rcap. I'm using CH2 for the speed controller. Could I just hook up the enable from the rcap to BATT (when I turn on receiver rcap will be enabled - I think). I don't want to fry any of my parts again.
When I tried to manually emulate the switch by connecting power to the pin with a jumper, my rcap light stops blinking and when I remove the jumper it starts blinking again - almost as if it just paused until I removed the jumper. Can someone PLEASE hook it up wit some info. I am trying to mod my software but I can't get the original version to work. I will glady post all info when I finish this project to show my appreciation.
Also, let me kno if this message is coherent, I'm sort of a newbe at this r/c stuff and I'm operating purely off of scattered research.

The RCAP should be connected to a third channel if you want to maintain control of your model. It is looking for pulsed input (servo pulses) on the enable line. I am not sure what a solid voltage would do to this. But who wants a car that will run itself with no safety backup?

I bought a new reciever/ transmitter w/ a third channel for enable, but the car wont go to the waypoint. I followed the start up procedure. when I enable the RCAP the LED starts blinking as planed, But there is no output to the servos. Sometimes I get erratic servo behavior but it won't go to the waypoint. Last night I held in the throttle and my car just went around in circles. I even tried reversing the steering via sw1. Should the throttle be automatic too? I plugged everything up correctly and I can control it by remote perfectly when the RCAP is unenabled. It must be something small that I am doing wrong, but I just can't figure it out.

The blinking indicates that the RCAP is gathering data from your gps. Only the enable channel, and the steering channel should be wired through the rcap. It has no idea what your throttle is doing. Sounds like the enable channel is working correctly too. You could check that you have a goto route enabled in the gps, and just to make sure you have the settings on the gps set to NMEA output. You should also check that you have the trim pots set to the middle of their range. If you are already nearby the waypoint (within about 30 feet or so) the rcap may act eratically as it tries to find center. To eliminate this, add more waypoints to your route, or set the waypoint farther away. It is also possible that noise in the power supply might be causing problems.

Let me know how if this helps you.

Oh yeah....

Most likely problem is ... rcap uses direction from gps. If you don't have about 3 or 4 mph at least (with decent gps reception) your rcap will not know which direction it is really going, causing eratic behavior. So try the above post, and keep your speed up to see if you can solve your problem. This is generally not a problem in planes .... unless you have some really heavy head winds.....
