Under a "large" ,some way under... all performance/ tone oriented..tested "on the gig" ..quality instruments with a lifetime guarantee...

BTW, I'm also a R&D consultant for www.NewOrleansGuitar.com ..now those are expensive...

Nice! What brand pickups you use? Do you do customization to other guitars, ie. custom fretboard inlays?

Post some pix and prices or PM...

Cool

gpw
Oct 04, 2007, 07:16 AM
7up...Yes we do all that ...Prefer to start from scratch ( we just like to make things :D )
We use various pickups according to the needs of the players...Dimarzio and Duncans our favorites cause we can order special winds...I'll have to get some pics for you guys... Later today as soon as it gets light...

All I can Say Is WOW GPW, all the talks and never knew you did this :)
I love them, with all the health issues don't know if we could afford one, but sure would like to sometime in the future.
I've still got my ole' standard, the charvelle, I've been playing with it and just love the sound and design.
can't wait to see more pictures.

Apparently these are powered by ducted fans since I don't see any props. Bet they sound great as they fly by. Nice work ( really ).

very nice! i play acoustic mostly, but that lap steel caught my eye - always wanted to learn to play one of those.

i've already got my dream electric guitar, and a couple acoustics that fit my needs (and i'm too broke to go out and buy another guitar!), but very nice work either way, especially on the gold top, definetly not an easy paint job i'm sure. i like the headstock design on it as well.

i know a few other guitarists, i'll shoot them a link for this thread and see if they're interested

No 60 cycle hum for that one!

I play as well (just not well) :D

My passion though for some masochistic reason are the Ibanez "Lawsuit" guitars. I'll have to see if I can dig out a picture of my Sunburst Deluxe '59er. I think it plays better than the real thing (flame suit on!!)

Micro, relax, it's only gold leaf , not solid ...hahahahaha
OSM, Long ago we realized that all guitars are just wood and steel...no magic , justs someones labor/time ... sorta' like cooking ....I know alot of players who prefer the knockoffs, especially the Japanese ones....

Glen your killing me here. Darn and I had to buy a new house. Still your killing me. Ah my fingers aren't worthy of them anyway.

What, no foam-body guitars? The resonance might suck but the damping would be huge.

Sell one of your choppers and you just might be able to snag one of GPW's beautiful creations. My fingers aren't that great either anymore.

Beautiful work Glen!

The Rocket lap steel and the "Fish" are my favorites. What kind of pick-ups on the lap steel?

did you make them from scratch? nice work!

gpw
Oct 05, 2007, 06:49 AM
I wouldn't sell my choppers either...my Chopper bicycles.. TOG, I never knew...How's the new house???
SC, some vintage tele and hum b's on the LS...
They're all made from scratch, the wooden parts anyway...I learned to carve the necks by making English Longbows ...I just like to make things, I even made my own house...
If you're interested in a guitar , you really need to come by and play them .... I've been playing since I was 14 (some time ago) so I know how to make them play well ,as well as sound good...the Lobster series was a study in ergonomics, very comfortable, perfect balance ...no reason to have that sore shoulder the day after the gig...

Berg, Sorry no PF's ... we try to concentrate on original designs rather than duplicate past experiments ...actually I'm motivated by beautiful pieces of wood...the prettier the wood , the prettier the guitar...the wood available usually determining the shape ...
Curious , all the good folks that called expressed an interest in also playing better...After playing for so many years (since I was 14) we've worked out a simple methods for better playing.. Anyone coming here will have the method explained if they desire...

Are any of them good for a begginer acoustic player, to move over to electric?

gpw
Nov 13, 2007, 07:50 AM
Any good E guitar would be good for an acoustic player to move over too ... You'll enjoy the lighter/easier action(easy on the fingertips) and a possible plethora of new tones...The secret to a good playing guitar is having someone who knows how to do a good Set-UP...
Any of these would be fine ...and would have the advantage of having a proper setUP and intonation..These were made by me to PLAY at the gig ... Been playing for 47 years now (building guitars for 12yrs.), and we've come to Expect certain things from a guitar ..TONE, Playability/Comfort,TONE !!! :D These are GREAT!!! I just made too many ...

gpw

Hey Glenn need any home made pedals?

gpw
Dec 21, 2007, 12:17 PM
WOW!!! You made all of those ??? COOL !!!! Now I know who to speak to about modifying my Fuzz Face(Dunlop) ...sounds like C**P... not like the old ones with the good germanium transistors...

Using a Vox DA5 through the PA now , modeling and effects built into a tiny box...Easy to carry to the gig for us old guys ... :D

Bill Bergman
Dec 21, 2007, 04:00 PM
Yes, thanks.
That's actually a pretty old picture. Lot's have come and gone since then. Now that I'm back into RC, I haven't made any pedals in a couple years.

Hey guys I've played the acoustic guitar for 1 year and want buy and electric. I've asked my local guitar shop but I want to see your advice on which one to get. I've saved $350 for a guitar and amp what would you guys suggest? I've heard you should buy a used guitar because you get more bang for your buck.
Thanks,
Josh

gpw
Dec 23, 2007, 08:33 AM
Wired , be sure to shop around and PLAY each prospective guitar(alot)...to see how it sounds and plays ... remember , most guitars will play (comfortable)GREAT after a good set -up ... Try a bunch and then choose the one you like best ...Get someone(a seasoned player/musician, and NOT the guy in the music store) to go with you to help if you can ... as far as amps go , we've been using the tiny Vox DA5 with great success... lots of tasty tones and effects built in .... for a BIG sound , we just plug it into the band PA system .. there's a special jack for that too ....easy and you can probably find them for around 100.00 bucks ... Good luck !!! Let us know if you have any more questions...

Hey gpw this may not be the most amazing song in the world but its something that I could play every night at my youth group (everybody in there is a Zelda fan). Just wanted to show you.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUVsGLES5K8&feature=related

BTW: I'm getting better at the guitar, anything specific you'd advise that I should know?

Sorry the bussiness isn't goin to well

You shoud also know I'm like 15 years younger than that guy

gpw
Jan 11, 2008, 06:01 AM
Wired, keep plugging away Dude , you'll get there....:D It does take quite a while to become proficient ...Once you get there you'll be "wailing"

Not really a business, just an advanced hobby...I make these guitars to please myself and play on the gig with ... Just FUN stuff!!! My good friend who makes Guitars for a living (neworleansguitar.com ) considers it ...Work

Wired... Nice Axe Dude !!!!:D Looks like you're ready to join a band ... you might want to look UP some music theory on the net...chord theory and formation at least... hard to understand now , but will make it alot easier later...once you know what is going on , it'll be EASY to play anything you want...here's a site with some good stuff ... http://www.jazzguitar.be/ I know , I know ... it says Jazz , but music is music ... except maybe "rap"...

WIIRED1
Jan 17, 2008, 08:52 AM
GPW thanks for the site and info.

BTW: You can't have crap without rap.

gpw
Jan 20, 2008, 06:40 AM
We really don't consider Rap as music , it requires no musical skill /learning whatsoever... Just the ability to steal others recordings, add a booming bass and silly(8 year old mentality) rhymes filled with filthy words and loathsome social commentaries ... besides it all sounds the same 50 feet away ... Boom Boom Boom ... :censored: Exploitation of the Dumb !!! No morally redeeming value...Sad huh???

gpw
Jan 26, 2008, 06:47 AM
... and with every guitar purchase , I'll throw in a free Plectrum and some links to Jazz Guitar lessons...

Do you have a local guitar shop? Why not try and sell them there? Or post them in a local action. Just an idea(if they don't take too much cut).

They look like cool guitars to play.

ARGHHH for some reason I'm unable to advance in my skill on the guitar! :o I'm still pretty bad....

The local shops are too busy selling CNC replicas of old guitars to bother with handmade stuff ... That or they want an exclusive, without spending any money ...and the prices they offered for buying outright were just ridiculous ... they want to make ALL the money ... that's why I'm selling direct , The buyers save mucho bucks , and I get a few for my effort/materials .....Besides ,I'm in no real hurry to part with my "babies"..

Practice ,Practice,Practice ... and be sure to join a band and play around with as many other venues as you can ...it forces you to "get better".... :D It honestly takes about 2 years of all this to become fluent...Worth the effort when you're a rock star... :D
