Multimeter "offset"

Does anyone else have a similar problem?

Both of my multimeters show a "background" of 0.002- 0.005 Amps on the high amp AC range, even with the meter leads shorted, they also show a similar offset on AC millivolts 6-8 millivolts with leads shorted. Is this normal and can I get rid of this "offset?

It looks to meet your meter precision specs ...say AC Range is 19.99 Amps ( only 10 usable !!! ) ...

that gives 0.005/20 = 0.25 %

Your meter is really a top class model !!! ( 4.5 or + digits ??? )

Seriously : 1 or 2% officially told ... this offset is 10 times smaller than your meter precision = forget it !!!


So, why look for what your meter can't give you ???

Read carefully the datas and you'll see precision = x % of measure + y Digits ...
