Theres always quite a few on Ebay, just set search criteria for 'used' to filter out the toys, otherwise its the backs of the mags.

i agree with fatbutcher, i have bought a number of planes off of ebay, my big drawback is that i can only buy ones that have delivery with them because of where i stay, most of them seem to be down in the middle or south of England which is too far for me to travel for one or two models!

It's easy, just use the narrow your search options and select uk only and used items only.

Hi again Isher, yet again I agree with fatbutcher, it is reasonably easy to filter out all the dross, when I am looking, I first change the scale tab to the various different scales and see what comes up for each one, I also change the tab for power to either electric, nitro, petrol or other, if you change the parameters of the search it will make it so much easier to find what is out there. However, sometimes a few of the dodgy stuff still makes it through so I am afraid that you just have to accept that and skim past them! What sort of plane are you looking for, trainer, low-wing, electric, nitro?
Keep looking, something will turn up!

Great minds....blaa..blaa..blaa :D
Another good way to narrow it down is to limit searches by distance, as often sellers won't want to post and airframe

Thanks again...the filtering out of all the c**p does really define your search on e:bay ..
I have mastered my Trainer and was recently at a scale fly-in and a couple of guys flew a Seagull Pilatus PC9 , on speaking to them it seems that this plane would be an ideal 2nd model after my Trainer so I am in the market for something like the Pilatus PC-9 , my choice of engine would be a 70. size four stroke just for the scale effect.
I have done my homework and alot of sites echo what the guys at this flyin said but my problem is that I am living in Dublin Ireland and I dont know if you know it but not too many model shops which means not much competition so high prices. ...dont get me wrong I can order cheaper from say Sussex models etc but the ship costs are a little steep even for boxed ARTF (one supplier quoted shipping @ £60 for the PC-9 , engine, epoxy etc etc .
The reason for my secondhand site request was that I just missed out on a Pilatus PC-9 with an Irvine 52. (not a 4 stroke but still nice) which sold inc, shipping for £110 on BMFA , so I said I will see if there is similar around on any other site.

Think your just gonna have to keep your eyes pealed.
Setup save seaches on ebay, and check the backs of the magazines.
Is it really that expensive to post to Dublin from the UK? if not i'll get you one from Als hobbies (just down the road from me) and send it to you if you want.

The BMFA site is good, other tha that ebay sometimes has some good models, I got a world models super frontier 40 complete set-up ad it got me through my BMFA "A" easily, still the best rtrianer at teh club I feel. I then bought a super air and not a PC9 with 52 four stroke; I've read the 70 is a tight fit and a very small tank!!!

Thanks Fatbutcher your a gent for that kind offer , I have purchased my PC9 from a local Hobbie shop but not without some haggling , didnt get it for a cheap as U.K On-line shops but still I was satisified with the deal and have the plane in hand rather than been concerned about shippong damage etc etc ...I am now waiting on a O.S 70 4 stroke from a club member to put in it which will be maybe a little on the "over power" side but we will see what happens , my only main concern is if it will fit without any major changes to be made.

Isher, I come across to Ireland a few times a year, I would echo the offer made by Fat Butcher, I could easily take stuff over to you and it would save the psotage costs completely! i am not due across again for a couple of months though!
I am glad that you have managed to get the model that you wanted, it makes a big difference to your flying and learning curve if you actually like that plane that you have, it makes you a bit more focused on keeping it in one piece!! I have seen guys who have just bought the first model that they set eyes on because it is only a trainer and it is a stepping stone to get to the one that they really want and they don't really take too much care of them cos they didn't really want them!
Keep up the enthusiasm!!

Thanks your a pal ...
Get this....I was flying yesterday (nice weather for a change) at my club and asked an old member if he still had his World models P51 MUSTANG ,air retracts , 90 size 4 stroke , mint condt , this is a peach of a model which I have always drooled over on the couiple of occasions that I seen it flying , then then converstaion went something like this..
Me:That is a great looking model ?
Him:I am selling up just gonna concentrate on a couple of Elec.
Me:You are ..give me 1st refusal on the p51
Him: No problem make me an offer ?
Me:200 euro (This model is in mint condt and £400 pounds on Stevewebb.)
Him : no problem do you want the engine and servos ?
Me: Sure how much.
Him:I have a taken the engine out and its back in its box was gonna sell seperate .
Him:Hand out ..300 all in ?
Me:Hand out : DEAL ! :)
I collect this plane tomorrow and at 300 euro it is a steal , It will be mounted in my Hanger until I have mastered the PC9 but will give me a great incentive to get were i want in RC Flying and thats in the Scale models.
I am now looking forward to getting Step 2 (PC9) over and mastered before taking STEP 3 and going full blown into the Scale.

sounds like a great deal!
Adding to what Andy said, I know where he's coming from, but theres nothing like building a model from kit or plan to make you take extra care. I've always had issue with ARTFs that they are to easy to get and get shot of and move on. The best plane I've ever had was my Chris Foss Acroswot, its been recovered once, and had its life extended, but it didn't matter what other ARTFs I had, I always went back to that and thoroughly enjoyed every flight, not bad for a plane I built when I was 14 and had 15 years on/off flying it. I have sold it now, but only to make way for the Wots Wots the wife bought me, thats my winter project, and might even be electric!

I did some research on the 70FS, I believe you do need a different mount. The PC9 should come with 2 mounts anyway but the cowl is a tight fight. Best to measure it and the look at teh dimensions of the 70FS first. How about a ASP61, has the same case as a 52?
