I have a .21 enigine in an airframe on my shelf for ten years.

I did use after run oil when I last flew it, but even that has evaporated.

The engine will not budge--but I know it's not rust. It's just ten years of fuel and oil that hardened.

What steps should I follow to free up this puppy?

You could try really soaking it with a penetrating oil, or WD-40, then slowly try to free it, little by little, turing it back and forth. It always works for me. And a little heat from a heat gun may help too. If it had after-run oil, it may just be sludge stuck. Working clean stuff will usually free them up.

I did as you suggested with WD-40--spins smoth as silk now.

Find a old crockpot, put the engine(take apart as much as many big pieces and rubber O ring from the carb first). Put all the metal pieces but not the O ring in the potand heat up the crockpot with antifreeze for 24 hrs and thats it! .

DON'T USE THAT CROCKPOT AGAIN AS IT IS POISIONESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another alternative is paint and gasket remover. Had an old .61 that was locked up. 2 hours tearing it down, spraying it down with gasket and paint remover, little oil on reassembly. Runs like a champ.;)

LIquid Wrench penetrating oil works well also. I am currently rebuilding a '72 Honda 450 Street Scrambler that has been sitting for 15 years and when I got it, both cylinders were locked up. I shot some Liquid Wrench in the spark plug holes and let it sit overnight.

Next morning it turned over without a hitch

Remove the RC carb, place in oven at 250 degrees, this should free up engine.
While motor still hot place prop on engine and turn over.

Is this not interesting?

Over more than five years and six months and 2166 access and only 8 postings this thread is surviving.

The subject has been discussed in many other threads since.

AMAZING.

I'd say Seized and bony both are.

I'd say Seized and bony both are.

Ya _ _ _ buy an old car from the auction then get the stuff to unseize the engine :p ;) :) :D
