I suspect I'm gonna come off soundin' like a real cheapskate here, but money's funny lately. Does anyone know of a good scource for free large-scale plans? (Civil A/C only. Tho' I might do a P-51 an' paint it up Reno style.) I need links for downloads or addr.'s for catalogues.
Tnx,
RD

Better to get a plan from a smaller model and up-scale it. Good plans are normaly at a price.

Here's a suggestion,
Paul Matt has several books out with lots of plans.
You might go to a library and ask if they have a copy, if not ask them to get one. Our library here will obtain copies of books if you ask them.
Cleveland Models has lots of plans at very reasonable prices.
Another guy who has lots of plans quite inexpensive is Uncle
Willies on Ebay.
Uncle Willies is a professional draftsman who takes old plans and meticulously restores them to just like new.
They are very nice high quality plans!
He sends them to you in an electronic file, and you burn them to a disc, then take them to a print shop and get copies made.
I've done business with him for a long time, and have always been very pleased with the plans he sends me.

If you go to:

http://www.theplanpage.com/prev.htm

and look through their archive, you will find a lot of plans for small planes and quite a few for larger planes (4 foot wingspan type). They also have a few glider plan links which could be converted to powered flight easily. They're all balsa build types, so if you're a foam builder this won't come in all that handy. They are all designed for free flight, but some are designed for gas powered free flight and are large enought to accomodate a full flight package.

As far as Uncle Willies is concerned, he's reputed to be a copyright thief here on the forum, and if you do a search for him you will find that he steals a lot of plans from real drafters like Peter Rake and sells them for his own profit. I won't buy stuff from him, but you do what you like.

I'd suggest buying a T-square and some drafting tools and finding a good 3-view on the net and putting your own plans together.

Thanks for the info on Uncle Willies,
I never knew that about him before, did a little research, and read many of the comments.Never realized he was dodging copyright laws.

I'm looking for some plans for around a 80inch sized extra 260 or similar. Anyone know of any?
