I remember there was a technique that involved finding the cg by somehow taking the chord at the tip and the chord at the root of your wing and then drawing a big X.. but I forgot how to do it.. can anyone explain it please?

I known on an airplane with a hershey bar wing you find the center of lift first and then go 30% back to find the optimal cg. Does the same apply to a flying wing?

Thanks,

A little confusion here I think. CG on a conventional wing is usually around 25-30% back from the *leading edge*. 30% behind the centre of lift would be uncontrollable.

Try http://www.bluemaxrc.com/building_tips.html#Center of Gravity (CG) Calculator for some on-line help though I'm not sure it works for Flying wings if that's what you're after.
