Anyone know where to get the stuff that would line an open cockpit like a Spacewalker or other vintage model, preferably in 1/4 or 1/3 scale size? Thanks, Dennis

You could use a suitably sized rubber hose, slit open langitudinally.

Or the real thing: Leather. Nice upholstering work for nimble fingers...

Maybe the steering wheel wraps at auto stores.. just a thought... cut it down the middle lengthwise to whatever width you need.. comes with the wrapping too. lots of colors, etc

Use real leather--I use very thin black or brown leather that I get from Michaels craft store. I wrap the leather around a cord (they see that too) with canopy glue so that I have a long piece of cord with leather wrapped around it. Leave about a 1/8 inch wide section that is not wrapped and glue it to the underside of the cockpit edge with canopy glue.

I like Pat's method; only difference is I use Weldbond glue on the leather and let it dry, then iron on around the cockpit rim--instant stick-down. Then low gloss shoe polish on the leather. Can't beat it! Jim

Tom, I actually have that on the model now, but something closer to scale is a larger padded type of material, I have seen some on models like a Spacewalker, it is a foam looking gray in color, someone out there makes this stuff I am talking about.
