Thanks Ray,
I had no idea this little model was so rare and difficult to find.
That just makes me more determined!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear the Mercury Mistral was a scaled down version, so if anyone can help with a plan for that - I would be nearly there!

Ray,
That kind gentleman on the other forum kindly let me have that Sirocco which I will use to draw up a set of plans - which I can then use to build a new one. If you are interested in a copy of my hand drawn plans - you are more than welcome! (my drawing is very accurate - trust me!!!)
My idea is to build a new Sirocco "as original" but fit r/c and electric.
At least when you turn up at your flying site its a safe bet you will be the only one with a Sirocco!!

Mark,
E-Mail sent! Well done in getting the model - hope he didn't modify the kit when building it so we have an accurate copy of the Sirocco.

Ray,
The model is standard as Mercury intended!! Sadly, this model is a bit past it, so really I will just take it apart to use for patterns for the new plan. It is a very simple build - just a few bits of 1/8 sheet an stringers. -If you can scan that Mercury logo and send me a cleaned up version I can produce some waterslide transfers.

Mark,
This is the best I can do with my limited equipment (and skill).
Perhaps Vintage1 will work his Coral Draw magic on it for us.

Vintage,
Yet another great job! Thank you.
Printed the FROG one today about 4" high onto waterslide paper then onto the Linnet wing - and it looks great.
Thank you for putting in so much time on these logo restorations - they just finish off vintage models so well.

After a lot of searching, acquiring tatty models and employing my 'draughtsmanlike' skills !!! I now have a brand new set of Mercury Sirocco plans - many thanks to RFJ for his help in this.
If anyone would like a set, just msg me and I will sort you out with the plans.

Well, my contribution didn't amount to much but thanks to lots of work by Mark (and Vintage1) I am in a position to start recreating some childhood memories of the Sirocco - the first model I built that actually flew well.
Mark's plan is a very professional job and well worth having if this design means anything to you. My version will be slightly bigger to suit the gear I have which came from an indoor "shockie" type thing way beyond my flying skill.

Thats looking good Ray,
I have not even started mine yet - but the enthusiasm of watching this one take shape just makes me want to build one even more!
These Mercury Siroccos have just been saved from extinction :)
Keep up the good work Ray..

Finally got my Sirocco finished and flown. Covered in Solite with an AXI 2204/54 and a 3 cell 850mah lipo the ready to fly weight is 290 grams.
Way too much power - it climbs like a Saturn 5 - but cruises around delightfully on about quarter throttle. Only changes I will make will be a bit more downthrust and move the balance point forward a little from it's present 40% position.
All in all a fun project reviving childhood memories of my first sucessful (rubber) powered model.
Many thanks to Mark for the plan, decals and inspiration.

Ray,
Congratulations!
Really pleased your Sirocco has flown successfully :) ...Looks like the perfect parkflyer to me.
What flight times are you getting with that set up?
I think your the proud owner of the only airworthy Mercury Sirocco in the world at the moment! as I've not had a chance to even start mine yet.
How about some video clips?
Thanks for showing the pics of the finished model Ray,
Mark
