What should be and what not?
1. Motor. Align 3550 KV. Is it good for 3D? Alternatives?
2. LiPos. C-rate vs capacity? Brand? (ThunderPower... only?)
3. Main blades. Wooden 315, 325? Carbon? Which are acceptable? Size?
4. Paddles?
5. Tail blades?
6. Fly bar rod (220 mm or...)?
7. Any other comments and suggestions please.

1. That will work. 11t to 13t pinion. Start with 11t learn your flips, rolls, and inverted.
Were talking 3d here so you should have your basic flight down. FF, FFF, 8's, nose in.
2.20c of higher. I like FlightPower.
3.Align 325 pro wood work great. Cheap, and breakup nicely when you crash cause you will.
4.Stock should work. No weight on the fly bar.
5.Stock will work. Later you can go to carbon.
6.220mm fine.
7.gyro gy401, s3153 tail servo futaba ease of use.
8.hs65mg's everwhere else.
9.45 amp ESC,and run a separate BEC.
10.loctite everthing thats metal to metal.

I think that should do it.

My personal take:

1: Good motor. JFGrn's advice is spot on.
2: Anything from TP Prolite 16 C packs to Evo 25C packs.
3: Align 325 Pro woodies are amazing. I love to 3D on them. Carbons are best but certainly not the most economical option. I only fly Carbons when I'm doing stuff I'm very comfortable with and/or I want to show off.
4: Align part number HS1192, 6g paddles.
5: Align part number HS1208 black plastic tail blades.
6: Align part number HS1184 220mm flybar.

7: Kong Power lipos are new and are discharge-proof so they may actually be your best choice in batteries... I know I've destroyed my fair share of packs learning how to fly.. 'Cuz you keep landing and taking off, and before you know it your packs are overdischarged and permanently damaged.

Mine is a little bit lazy. Trying loops now. The loop's radius seems pretty big.
1. Align stock motor (3550 KV)
2. Lipo with C*mAh >= 30 A
Stock ESC (35X). No external BEC.
3. Carbon (stock) 325 - seems they are heavy. I prefer vooden (Align) 315. They give more sharp response (IMHO).
4. Stock paddles. But seems like pretty heavy. I removed all weigts from flybar rod.
5. Stock plastic tail blades. Still alive since April.
6. Now 220.

Carbon 325's are VERY heavy... I much prefer my 325 pro woodies.

I started the basic 3d stuff with this setup:
-T-rex 450S
-430L motor, 13T pinion
-RCT-450 sky shark head
-stock 35x ESC
-AirThunder, 25C, 3S lipos

I've been able to do flips, rolls, loops, and tick-tocks with this setup. I have a straight 100% th curve, also. The motor doesn't like tick-tocks too much, and bogs after a couple... and I'm managing the collective fairly well.

I just installed a 6V park bec, 430XL w/ 13T, and am getting the RCT- alu. tail. Only got to hover it yesterday, when the front tail pulley came loose again (had a couple hard landings last week)... but I can tell the 430XL is a HUGE improvement over the 430L.

  OMG!! & didn't you have JB Weld on it too??

I'm using 315 woodies with 2600 rpm but if I install 325 will I see improvement in speed?

P4ddy, yeah, I had JB weld on it, but i had some HARD landings and it's been through 2 very hard crashes (into concrete, bent frames, actually broke the plastic tail box peg that holds it vertical on the boom, etc..)... and I didn't clean the surface of the plastic pulley / axle before I put it on there... (my stupid mistakes). So I'd say it held up pretty well... hehe... I fly it like I stole it... :)

Almaz, what motor / pinion / th curve are you using?

With my 430L / 13T I tach'd about 3k headspeed at 0 pitch and 95% throttle with 325's. But, to answer your question, if you install longer blades, leaving everything else the same, your headspeed will probably go down a little.

500th with 13t pinion
cc45
3s 30c batts
401 gyro
radix 325
carbon paddels
carbon tailblades
longerflybar
thats the best in my book ... i was using this setup last time

i am flying two stock trex 450 se v2s with the new 4mm spindal head and rest OEM components. i have 65mgs and a 401 with 9257. works great :)

Do you mean the plastic crap blades that come with the kit or actual Carbon Fiber?

I weighed my blades..

Align 325 Pro = 26g
Align 325 CF = 27g
V-Blade 325 CF = 27g

I know people are running 3Krpm headspeed for 3D. But for a beginner, what
is a minimum recommended headspeed for trying mild 3D such as loops and rolls? I'm using
315mm align PRO wood blades. I've been running 2000 to 2100rpm and it feels comfortable in forward flight and fast forward flight.

How do I know if my setup is good enough
to try mild 3D? I gave it almost full collective yesterday and it climbed quite
well, but spinning on its way up instead of holding the tail. I've since increased
the gyro gain a bit so that it wags a little, but haven't tried full collective yet.

More headspeed means more cyclic reaction. I started loops in IDLE2 and feel comfortable.
