Hi,
I'm readying a Sr. Telemaster I built 20 years ago for its first flight. The ailerons are, to me, very large and heavy. They are 36" X 2" and weigh 2.2 oz. each. I bought two Futaba 23305 "Heavy Duty" servos with metal gears to drive the ailerons. The box reads, "8.9 kg-cm at 6.0 volts." Will these be adequate? Do they mandate a 5 or 6 cell receiver pack? Finally, the box bears the legend in bold: "Ni-Cd use only". I don't understand this. Why do the servos care whether I'm using Ni-Cd, NiMH, or Lipo? TIA.

It should work fine. Your looking at 99/123 oz/in at 4.8/6.0 volts. I'm assuming that they are really the 3305 servos.

A 5 cell battery is 6.0 volts while a 4 cell is 4.8 volts. Nicad only means don't plug in a 2 cell lipo directly. A BEC is fine as it regulates the voltage to the radio.

More than adequate. A standard servo with a power of 40-in./lbs. is what legions of Telemaster fliers have used over the years for the ailerons.
