HI All,

I want to use an external battery pack to "tune" the new heli so I don't have to go through the ESC. I've got a "4-pack" AA battery holder and a plug from an old burned up ESC. Not having used a battery pack for the receiver before my question is can I just use the black and red wires (making sure they're plugged into the receiver correctly of course)? The white or yellow wire serves no purpose for the battery connection does it? Thanks. Dave

Correct. The 3rd wire on a servo or ESC connector is the signal.

Though I'm not sure what tuning you can do without the ESC connected....but then I know nothing about helis.

If you are talking about setting up the controls on the heli just plug the battery pack into the receiver, you don't need the bec from the esc connected. This will let you setup the control throws, pitch curve etc. Then when you are ready connect the bec from the esc to the throttle channel.
