Rich flew his first FAI contest in 1979. Since then he has spent ever Labor Day weekend at a Team Selection. This is his first time on the team and to make it even sweeter he had his two sons towing for him. To edge things against him he only had a 3 man team, had to throw for himself because I could not and Daryl was having back trouble. Then he had a mid air with his primary plane destroying the center panel. In addition to that he had an off field landing which had to be his drop. He really deserved it.

Pike Perfect SL Skips crew looked about the same, with the same plane. Even two Perfects cannot occupy the same space and time.

Actually, team selections have not always been on Labor Day weekend. In '99, F3J selection was over 4rth of July weekend.

:-)

But that is just picking nits. A big congrats to Rich and to everyone that was at the selection. And thanks Robert and others for posting comments, write ups, and pictures.
