I know, sounds like I am going to make another led-matrix display right?
I am not...
Here's what I've done so far:
- Cut a 150x50x10mm block of lexxan
- Polished edges
- Engraved my surname in the lexxan
In retrospect I see 10mm being way too thick. Not that it doesn't look good, but I think it might not be needed. 5mm would suffice.
The reason why this thing is in the DIY Electronics forum is the steps I have yet to complete. I want to add a lightstrip either on the side or on the bottom to inject light in the side of the lexxan. It would have to be switchmode to avoid wasting battery power and of current-controlled type with dimming to control the LED's. I want multiple channels as I want it to slowly cycle colors from blue to yellow through green, over to red and blue before white. I was thinking of using ultra bright Yellow, Blue and white to accomplish this.
Sounds like fun?
Oh and it sais "Aalerud" if you wonder...
