Hi, I'm a newbie w/ phoenixrc...

I'm using a CX2 controller; worked out of the box, although I've played w/ the control mappings.

I like it fine, it works well on my crufty PC.

I wish there were more info about the aircraft models.

Here are a couple of questions. Note that I haven't really experimented carfully with a lot of models, so if some of this stuff is in there, I apologize for asking before found it myself.

- which model heli is closest to a HoneyBee FP? It doesn't indicate what sort of CP/CP/CCP/... each aircraft has.

- what's the difference between trainer, 3d, and sport models of the same aircraft? Headspeed? Control configuration?

- I can't trigger smoke (just a fixed-wing thing?). I assign it to a numeric key, and have confirmed they work for other functions (with numlock on).

- I downloaded the RF G3 demo, and could map the little knob control (ch. 5) on my to throttle. It controlled headspeed on the 3D helis. With same mapping in Phoenix, it turns the throttle on, or off, no variable control. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Jim

You can change the Spark to model a little FP heli by editing the parameters so that the collective min, mid and max are all the same.

The Sport variants are usually lower headspeed, cyclic and collective - and the trainers even more so.

I found with the smoke you have to enable it under the simulation > setup menu before it can be triggered.

Most of the helis have rotor governors so the throttle either turns the governor on or off - you can disable the governor in the edit menu.

Thanks, Stan.

I'd neglected to look at the Edit Aircraft menu.

I'm also wondering why the audio level of the sim is so low compared to the rest of my windows stuff, and whether I can find a config param to tweak that, too.

cheers.
