Hi too all.
Im amir from iran and i recently could design and make the first unfixed wing UAV in the world.
My UAV name is DR-hesabi.
DR hesabi was a great man in iran.
Now I work on Autopilot system for it.
you can see my UAV in :
www.drh-uav.mihanblog.com
but that site is in Persian language.

How do you define an 'unfixed wing' aircraft? I can see that there's a joint half way down the wing, but what's it for? Does the wing fold there for transport? Does the wing sweep? Does each wing rotate along its axis so they work as wingerons (where the wings twist independently to give roll control)?
Looks nice though ;)

Very cool Amir! :)
Although our governments do not like eachother, it is very kind of you to share your work and ideas with us. I wish I could read Persian!
-dave
PS Please be carefull about posting the same info in many threads, many people do not like that and will flame you. The UAV forum is probably the best place for your info.

If you are referring to pivoting wings (http://www.freewing.com/paradigm.html) , then it would seem that you are not the first. Models (UAV's) have been used for testing this type of wing for some time now. If it is not a pivoting wing, then please explain further.

Looks like his wings sweep. I'd like to understand the rationale for that on such a slow flying airplane.

Maybe to change CG location inflight if the payload changes?

very very thanks to lvspark for get link of my 2d animation from my weblog.
im very alone and self created that animation.
that animation give us very good information from CG.
who have a good Idea for me to make it better?

Hi D_weel
My UAV is very difrrent from your share UAV. Drh Uav can Get more speed with very low Drag by getting the wings OFF. it cant relate! it can open and close by the controller or pilot. that you show is very difrent and it isnt The First! some years ago I found One off plans that you show.

As I was saying to Prince Phillip only the other day,"I hate names droppers, don't you?" Many years ago I did a bit of work with Barnes Wallis, and got to see some pics and hear some stories about a big R/C swing wing aircraft which was tested in the fifties. The wings swung through about forty degrees. The jet engines were mounted on the wing tips! One guy steered the thing in roll and yaw, another controlled pitch via wing sweep angle. Primitive R/C gear, slow reflexes ; demolition of plane and a herd of cows!
I guess that was a pretty early unfixed wing plane. Even earlier a Russian biplane that folded the bottom wing up so part nested into a recess in the fuselage side, the rest into the undercambered top wing. Flew pretty well, wide speed range, but prone to crashing if the various bits jammed up.Would make an interesting scale model!

Would it not be a lot simpler to mount the payload on the CG ;)
I cant think of valid technical reason to have in flight adjustable swing wings on a low speed prop driven UAV  Which probably explains why this is the only one. Still an interesting model though :)

I understand now but can't see how this is different from the F-14. How is your model different? I saw videos of a model Tom Cat flying several years back with swing wings. Your model is nice, but isn't the first of it's type as far as I can see.

This past winter I sat in on a couple brain storming sessions with the idea of creating a purpose built UAV airframe from scratch. A large variety of mainstream things were suggested, quite a few strange and off the wall suggestions were made ... even goofy stuff said in jest that sort of might seem like it would have a chance at doing something useful ... until you thought about it a bit more. We all thought we were being extremely original and creative.
Then this spring I had a rare chance to visit the USAF museum in Dayton, OH and they had a static display of miniature models outside their cafeteria ... hundreds of them going back to the early days of aviation. I swear that every idea we came up with (even though we thought we were being original) was represented in that display ... even the joking stuff we came up with as comic relief ... clearly someone had already tried it, and tried it back in the 20's or 30's even .... and survived with their design long enough for others to see it and model it. I was surprised that all our supposed originality was simply duplicating other's previous originality ... I guess there's really nothing new under the sun.
Curt.

Welcome Amir,
I think the moderators deleted your post because you cross posted the same information in many forums. Please continue to share your ideas, but stick to posting in just one forum at a time.
Best wishes for continued success,

dalbert02 got it right... you got in trouble for spamming... What you did was not against US law but it was against the rules of RCGroups. No problem.
Thanks for re-joining our group and sharing your work and ideas. This is mostly an international group of UAV designers and engineers and we try to keep the politics to a minimum (or at least start a separate thread). :D
The Americans on this group are free to discuss anything given our freedom of speech rights however, I also believe we are prohibited from exporting UAV systems or sub-systems to several listed countries. Perhaps someone here is familiar with the letter of those laws; I am not.
Welcome Amir… we’re glad you’re here…

No...
Everybody is persecuted from time to time. The challenge in life is not to take it personally.
There are many Iranians living in the US having fled the revolution. Because they were wealthy enough to escape Iran they were also well educated and able to be successful in America. So you may be surprised to find that the Iranian people are favorably represented in the U.S..
Many people abroad think that Americans hate other people of the World. That couldn’t be more wrong. We are more accepting of individuals than we are given credit. Think about it for a moment; America is only made up of people from other places (including the American Indians who came from Asia and South America). We have an accepting and welcoming culture.
I’ll make you a deal Amir, I’ll look past your current president if you look past mine… ;)

I’ll make you a deal Amir, I’ll look past your current president if you look past mine… ;) Hear, hear! Words to live by.
That one really had me laughing, but it's a great philosophy behind it. I agree totally.
