View Full Version : Question Tragi 702 same as 704?

Hi Guys,

I've just acquired a used Tragi 704 (v-tail) today.

Am I right in thinking that the 702 and the 704 are essentially the same plane, except for the means of ballast provision?

I ask, because I'd like to use the set up sheet from the f3x website.

702 owner here.
I believe the only differences are the materials in the fuselage and the ballasting method.

Another improvement: 704 has bottom-hinged flaps. (Same middlepart as 705.)

so the 702 set up should work fine?
do you really only need 5 degrees of up for the crow breaks??

Published set ups get you close to fly safe, YOU are the pilot and define your final throws and CG. Everyone likes something a little different and thats the fun of it.

Sorry, the middle parts are different. 704 has RG15, 705 MH32. 703 and 705 middlerts should be replacaple, though. 703 has top hinged flaps, MH32 and shorter tip panels.

thanks guys.

F3x - the up aileron on the crow breaks just seems scarily low compared to what i'm used to (25 degrees on my Miraj).

just wondering if it's right......

Dont worry about it Tom ....the F3B boys hardly use any up going aileron ....

ok mate.

the tail's got a bit of damaged. don't know whether to look for a new one. I think it's structurally okay though.

The flaps certainly won't go 85 degrees down at the moment - the linkages foul the servo covers.........

nothing's ever easy............

I agree with Andy. Raising ailerons is an old myth that can safely be forgotten. To get best aileron response in landing mode, remove all spoileron mix from ailerons and concentrate on getting 70-80 degrees flap movement.

Tragis are easy to fly and structuraly very strong. Just repair the v-tail and go flying :-)

The tail will cyano up no problem ......wonder what has hapend to the top skin over the flap servo though ...!!!...maybe the servo was taken out with a hammer and chiesel

For F3B its more than right, for Slope landings on the edge it may be low. Some never use CROW! No one set of throws will cover every pilots needs. You have to adjust the model to your liking.

I'll just have to see how it goes....... maybe try 10 degrees.

I have been setting up a 702 over the last couple of months, still learning what it likes. It lands very well with about 6mm up aileron and as much flap as posible. 25mph + you hardly need crow at all to get it down. Its my first f3f plane and light wind performance is quite disapointing, it seems to thrive on being heavy in strong winds but this is just my impression. Would like to hear what more experienced pilots have to say about it.

mark,

i haven't had chance to get it going yet - too busy gluing my other crunchies back together!

Anyway, everyone i've talked to about it has said how well it goes in light air. but that's just what people say.

I'll let you know how mine goes....

nice quality plane dont you think? (finish etc).

Light wind performance? Try with 3 slugs in the wing at all times. Even in light wind. If the conditions are race able the Tragi will need ballast!

RG15 really loves the ballast, doesn't it.

thanks for the info.

the 704 has a ballast tube in the fuse and plenty of ballast slugs! :D

Well, I've now flown the Tragi. I'm very impressed. It was really smooth and really very well mannered. She hardly wanted to land, even on the crow brakes :D A couple of blokes at my club were saying how well they handle light lift, so that's a bonus.

I maidened it with 2 ballast slugs in (out of 8), but i reckon it could have had 4 with no problem.

The only "issue" i have is that the tail seems a little loose. Is this normal or do i need to investigate? I need to get a torch in there as I can't see how the tail is connected. When i landed it was jiggling a little in the wind, so i packed it up, to be on the safe side.

Just checked, nothing loose on either of mine. Never has been

A screw is inserted thruogh the bottom of the fuse. It goes through a block inside the top of the fuse. The stab has a blind nut captured in it.

thanks. maybe it's just worked it's way loose. I'll see if i can get some light in the hole to see what's going on.......
