Hotels around San Diego Maritime Museum?

My wife and I will be going to San Diego. We will visit the Maritime Museum and the USS Midway Museum.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a decent motel/hotel around $100 or less per night near the area? And also, any ones we should avoid??

Tom, San Diego has always been a great place to visit, and I have never been disappointed with any place I've stayed. :)

I would stay away from Hotels east and south of Petco Park. There are alot of homeless people wandering around there.

The USS Midway is west of the train station.

The Convention Center has nice hotels but pricy. the Gaslamp is where all the resturants and clubs are.

Hotel Circle is also about 10 min from downtown and has nice hotels without the bum problem downtown has.

also its near Old Town which is famous for Mexican food resturants. While you're visiting drop by Balboa park about 15 mins from the Midway. There are lots of muesums there.

It might be a bit more expensive. But Hotel Circle is not far and should have a better selection of $100 hotels.
