first of all, please accept my apologies because i don't if this is the right place to ask for information: i am writing because i urgently need advice.. i am trying to find accurate and clear information about in-seat airplane cabin lighting systems(the ones we use for reading): the way they operate, the way cables are connected, which is the source actually providing "electricity" inside airplanes and, if possible, cad drawing(s) of the lighting system in airplanes..

i am trying to design a seating space, like a seating platform, and i want it to have in seat lighting system.. i am thinking that if i understand the in seat airplane lighting system i could suggest a similar lighting system for my proposal.. but i have no idea of electric systems...i have been surfing the internet for hours, trying to find information, but information is unclear and difficult to understand.. any suggestions of where to turn to??? i have to present my final design proposal a.s.a.p............ :(

thanx

this should go in the DIY electronics section. And I'm generally more interested in civil liberties than paranoia, but why do you need to know what they hook up to?

Airplane power is low voltage 28v DC if that helps. I would use a reflector halogen bulb which goes for less than $30. I assume you can live without dimming, so a fixed 24v power supply should work.

They have long haired cats tied to the outside edges of the turbine blades and the inside walls of the engine housing are covered in shag carpet.

Unfortunately in this day and age, any inquiries into aircraft or aircraft-like systems is suspect to me. Especially with a join date of August 2007 and no other posts. Apologies in advance if anyone is offended, but that's the sad state of the world today.

Nobody likes to draw the "Replace long haired cats" job card! :D

The last plane I flew on still used oil lamps and electrickery was still in it's infancy. What's wrong with modern scented candles?, it could set a whole new ambiance to those long flights. (Especially with the right ingredients burning ;) )
