You must make a bracket that bolts to the top of the lower unit, that will support the motor. Generally, motor shafts are 3mm.

Years ago there used to a kit available to do this conversion. The motor was mounted on a plate which was held up by stand-offs (4) which in turn was bolted to the lower unit. The stand-offs held the motor up and provided space for the coupler. From there it was a flex cable down to the prop.

The electric race boat guys may know where to find the kit or even if it is still available.
