Hi guys,

We intend on using a modified ( lightened ) paparazzi autopilot board on a small MAV. Here's the problem. The video system operates at 2.4ghz, and the radio modem we intend to use ( Maxstream XBee Pro ) operates at 2.4ghz too. Would the two interfere? Are there equivalent light weight radio modems operating at other frequencies? 900mhz?

I am using the aerocomm AC4868 which is the European version of the 900Mhz AC4490. I am very satisfied with my modules so far. The weight is 20g (0,75Oz).

Hi Uttam,

I use it also and bought a complete SDK (includes two modules) here last year

Here a single module

As Magnus mentioned already for your country you need probably the 900 MHz version

Cheers,

may I ask how you lightened the paparazzi board. Oh and to your question. They do interfere but not nearly as much as you would imagine.

anyone have anything to say about the maxstream modules?

I can second the aerocomm modules are pretty good, I have a AC4790 dev kit which was the cheapest option for me at $199US with 2 1/4 wave whips and dev boards/cables etc. But they are really easy to interface to and they are pretty much pin compatible across the frequency range, if the 900Mhz dont work, pop in a 2.4 or whatever comes in the future.
When studying the differences between aerocomm and maxstream modules was that the maxstream module, the 9Xtend needed a 5V supply for full 1W output whereas the aerocomm ran off 3.3V the same as the micro etc. that was the deciding factor for me.

Have fun
