Howdy folks, I'm new to scratch building and have a couple of questions. I'm building a fully sheeted wing and fuse. I've tested covering with .56 glasss and Minwax Polycrilic (waterbased polyurethane) on some scrap balsa, which seems to work well and is easy to apply. I'm wondering if I should stick with airbrushing some acrylic paint or should I be using another finish?
Thanks for the help.

If your covering with glass and poly. You can use any type of paint. So just use whatever suits your painting style.

I agree.
After glassing with cloth and Poly C, I usually use auto primer and a top coat finish suitable for my needs.

Well that certainly makes life easier. Although I have a few spots on the wing that have sunken in after glassing. Possibly sanded too thin? I cut the glass off those spots and lightly sanded the wood, then tried steaming to raise the skin back up. Worked on the areas that were not too deep, but there's a couple of spots that are still sunken in. Should I use some light weight spackle prior to priming?

Man, I've got to go back and read my instructions again. Word of warning to newbs like me...I used a "Candy" color over my elapor and normally I like to foam on a coat of WBPU as a finish. Mistake. The "candy" is now running all over the place! It's been sitting for about 2 weeks so I thought it was cured enough. So much for my clean lines!
