Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and hope someone can help me figure out what to use for an anchor winch. I have a Robbe Odin (first kit) that I am assembling and saw that it calls for a Robbe geared motor kit, number 4127. I cannot find a store in the US that sells it. Anyone know where I can locate one, or possibly a suitable substitute? I looked at the Futaba S5801 winching servo, but the $140 price is a little too steep, given that it's for an anchor that will be rarely used. I will post pictures of the Odin when I figure out how to do it.

Thank you in advance for any responses!

It looks like this:

I don't see it on either of these sites, but either www.harbormodels.com (http://www.harbormodels.com/) or www.shipsnthings.com/ (http://www.shipsnthings.com/) should be able to order it. Otherwise, try concocting your own with something like the COM101 at http://harbormodels.com/site08/motors.htm

Robbe does offer a anchor winch on their website. If your hobby shop can't get it worst case you order from the Robbe website unless the guys on here warn against it. I have not ordered from Robbe so I can't say it will work well. The very long link below should take you right to the winch. exchangerate.com says 32 euros = $43.16

On other sites I have seen threads of people modifying chepa seros, so that they do not stop turning after 140 degrees. Cannot remeber where though

could be here but you will need to search under electrics, or post a question under electrics.

Thank you all for the responses! I finally located a hobby shop in Canada that has the Robbe #4127 geared motor set. I also ordered a bow thruster. I figure since this tug has turned out to be a bigger project than I anticipated, might as well go all out. Picking up a radio will have to come later while I continue assembly after the parts arrive.

But thanks again and for anyone intrested in the hobby shop, here it is:

Ken, you may want to get a radio sooner than later... Always good to test the equipment before installing it in the hull and for sure before the deck goes on! :)
