I posted this on the sailplane section before I found this discussion group. I'm disappointed with RealFlight G3.5 for sailplanes. The older version let you gound-launch. As far as I can tell, slope soaring is the only way to launch in the current version. Am I missing an alternative launch option? On th plus side, the slope soaring graphics and plane response are great. What about the other software that is available? Hangar 9 FS One, Reflex,Ikarus, and another one that I saw in the magazines for less tah $30 but I can't find the ad.

I sent this same question to the Real Flight 3.5 people and they said they have hand launch only, but that you can control the altitude release point and the speed at launch.
Kind of like if you are 400 feet tall and hand launch the airplane.
(I don't know why, its just what they said  ).
I need to go to a local shop and see if I can figure that out.
I haven't bought a sim yet because I want the best sailplane sim I can get.
RF has airplanes but only one launch option, FSOne has several launch options including aero-tow and high start, but a very limited choice of sailplanes.
FSOne says they have new airplanes coming but don't have a clue if there will be any more sailplanes. (I'm betting not).
What I'd like to get is a comparison accessment of the sailplane flight performance on both of those sims.
At this point, I'm leaning to the G3.5 only because of the selection of gliders.
Can anyone comment on this???

Have you tried CRRCsim? I am thinking of using this

I just found out about the CRRC sim myself. It looks good, but I'm not sure if I have the technical background to install and operate it.
Does anyone here use it or has anyone done a tutorial on HOW to use it here?
Thanks in advance.

installing it is easy - even I could do it. It downloads and installs like any other simple Mac application.
still need to buy a USB simulator cord to use it with my TX

It's really easy to load and use. I have Windows XP on my PC so used the Windows installer. No problems at all to download and run. I also installed the additional planes. I found this to be the best site to start with:

I'm a beginner to RC and yesterday went out to fly my sailplane again after using the CRRCSIM for a few days. This time, I was much better on the orientation and "correct" reflexes aspect. No really hard landings, but some were a bit bumpy. So I recommend it, with the caveat that it's much easier fly "virtually"!
