Ok, so this has already been done but I have received many mixed opinions so I went out initally and got Phoenix, then 3 months later I have just purchased Reflex.

Got Phoenix running the latest verion and also Reflex.

I can't decide which I prefer, phoenix seems a lot smoother and easier to control. The Trex model is great, clear and quite big. I can't help but think that Phoenix is too easy, therefore reflex is more like real life but then I hover my trex in the back garden and reflex seems overally hard and phoenix closer to the real thing... urgh

What are your thoughts cos I am going to end up selling one of these on ebay and want to make the right decision...

I am at the stage with my TRex where I am flying left to right, however I crashed doing this as lost the orientation of my heli. Which would you say is best for orientation practicing?

One question I have whilst using phoenix is: How do I set my DX7 in phoenix so that my throttle hold switch works, any ideas?

Thanks
Mark

For me the key point about Phoenix is that it is rapidly evolving. Many consider it (as you do it seems) to be at least par with Reflex and G3 and the rate of change of Phoenix means that it is going to be the undisputed champ before too long (IMO)

As for being too easy or difficult, I can't say for Reflex as I only tested it for an hour before deciding I didn't like it, but in Phoenix you can tweak any of the models to become as easy or difficult to fly as you want. As is the case in the new 1.04g beta release with the mini Titan having a Trainer, Sport and 3D version already set up.

Not sure about your DX7 but on my 9C I don't do anything special to get into throttle hold (in Phoenix). You can set up a special switch or keyboard key to bring throttle hold in, but all I do is flick my throttle hold switch ON and the output from the Tx for the throttle and collective channels responds just as it would on the real thing.

Do make sure that you have throttle hold enabled in your Tx.

Is there anyone who has experienced both sims out there and which did you prefer?

From a heli pilot perspective, never did planks:

Had Reflex, bought Phoenix. Played with both, sold Reflex :)

You can adjust the heli to make it feel more like your setup in either one. So they are both good in that regard.

Phoenix has put out a lot of updates to improve their product so far. Can't say that about Reflex. It's been hit and miss with them, they said they were going to do something then you never know if and when you would see it.

I do like the ability to better tweak your controller settings in Phoenix. I think Reflex went the wrong way with their controller dohickey.
The multiplayer in Phoenix is entertaining as well, especially when you get into a field where there is a good pilot and you want to watch his sticks.
The graphics in Phoenix is a little better IMHO, especially with the effects. (Water, etc)
Sound as well...

I will also say that I have contacted Phoenix for support issues and they have always responded quickly and been very friendly as well. This is a big negative for Reflex in my book, there is a long history there in many forums...

I've had both.

I think i'd sway towards Phoenix, but XTR has gliders so I've kept that.
