Hi All,

posted this is the slope forum but was advised that you guys would be the one's to answer :D

I've just bought a NYX F3B 3.2m, has anyone got some rough settings for one as a starting point? I'm using a Futaba WC2 tx if that makes a difference.

It's my first big moldie so it all seems a bit daunting at the minute, having never had to program, crow, reflex (still don't understand it), Camber (or this) etc. i'm going to be flying mainly slope and learn abit of F3F hopefully :)

It's weird, i gave up flying power when my models started costing more than a house deposit and now having been bitten by the slope bug it's starting all over again !!!

Cheers for your help

Duncan

Nice looking plane, You might try F3X site it has a section on setups for different planes in the how to part of Toms site.

Here is the link.

F3X.com or Breta Model is a good choice. But this model is an F3J NYX with a F3b layup. This is not a Furio. I know this can be confusing but there have been three planes with the NYX name.

A-Ha! The 3 piece wing is the give away. Nice eye, DK.

If you want to be specific:

It's the F3J version if it has a carbon D box construction and weight about 71oz. The F3B version was all carbon from the same molds just a different lay up plus a larger ballast tube. Empty weight about 80oz.

I fly mine in TD. Although mine is a SL version at 68oz. No carbon D box. Strong, Stiff and efficient!

I think the NYX was a ship slightly ahead of its time, if it was released today it would be spectacular, It was one of the first of the TD ships with the design on high speed cruse with low weight, it was a bit quick for a lot of TD guys but now everyone is used to faster TD models. Models that followed were the Pike Superior. Of course for F3J its all about 3.7m ships.

Hi Plane Art,

Below are the settings for my NYX Full carbon, on a JR 9XII (9303). They mnay or not help you, hope they do.

Cheers
Steve

Set up for wing type dual flap and I use switches SPEED Aux4 and LAUN
FMOD. This puts the launch control on the toggle above the spoiler
switch and the speed/cruise/thermal control on the three position toggle
above the elevator stick (note I fly mode 1, you might need to rearrange
to suit your preferred style).

Then set as follows

Reverse / Normal
LAI RAI ELE RUD RFL LFL
REV REV REV NORM REV REV

If you adjust the sub-trim settings to neutral before you start (the
elevator neutral is marked with a pencil line on the fin so that should
be easy) then all should be well.

Travel Adjust 100% for all (but adjust final flap through with travel
adjust to get equal full down, expect values on one of 105% cf other
100).

Ele - Flap - nothing
Ail - Flap - pos 0 -32% pos 1 0%

Diff Aile Flap
Cruise 50 50
Speed 50 50
Thermal 75 50
Launch 80 60
Land 20 50

(although you could use 50% on everything and I think it would be fine)

fm delay (start with 0.5s)

fprn mix all 0%

aile - rudd mix use about 40% with speed and launch / landing, all
others make 0%

butterfly pos 0 pos 1
spoi - flprn -25% 0%
spoi - elev -25% 0%
spoi - flap -55% 0%
spoi offset +156
see note above about final adjust of flap to have both the same

launch settings (use monitor fn to set these)

Elev Flap FPRN
0 U87 D93

Thermal
Elev Flap FPRN
U12 U30 D30

Speed
Elev FLAP FPRN
0 D24 U24

D/R Pos 0 Pos 1 Pos 2
Elev 60 80 100
Ail 50 75 100
Rudd 75 100 100

Thats should be of help, i think i've got most of them sorted now, but after seeing yours, i'll go back and double check everything. I just have the C of G to set, which i believe i 106mm from the leading edge and wait for a windy day :D

many thanks
