Now something is wrong with this picture here.
The blue buggys are clones and Im guessing thats what he is selling.
So, if thats the case, then their NOT HPI Baja 5b's
And I going to guess the shipping is, well $100 or more?

This kinda stuff makes me sick. Thats the problem with sourcing out of china. Give them some time and they will copy and steal all your designs. Of course they can sell it for so cheap, because they did not spend one penny on tooling or designing the car. Keep your money and support HPI, if you dont, we wont see any more goodies from them again. Besides, the price that HPI asks for their buggy is very reasonable, there is no reason to look for a cheaper price.

There are a few or maybe one comapny that manufactures them. I can get them for less then $400.

Well I dont know if less than $400 for these is a good thing or not. Has anyone seen the quality?
I know the Chinese can produce stuff very cheap or HPI is making a killing.
And who's to say which of the companies has permission from HPI to do this?
I sent HPI a email anyway.

34FORD, Yea, the profit margin is most likely that high. But you need to factor in the cost of tooling, development, shipping, overhead, plus middle man cost like distributors.

Since you went that far, ask HPI for thier profits and you won't understand how can they make so much money. As you all know most of the R/C toys we play with are made some where in Asia. HPI is no different. I know some manufacturers who sell the products, but with no name or a different name. For example: I just received a quote today for a 1:5 Duratrax FireHammer Style Gas truck and the price is $328. Like QSL said you need to factor all the costs and it goes from $328 to almost $1000.

of cause,HPI's is so expensive,i think most people want to play it,but price too higher, why can't we lower the cost ,but enjoy yourself.

Its not right to steal other peoples designs. Why dont you guys design your own car and sell it for $400, instead of stealing someone elses. In the USA this is illegal.

They are not stealing anything QSL. HPI and other manufacturers don't have a lot of patents on their products, because most of the R/C are first made in Asia. If a US company designs a R/C item, they just send it to Asia to get it made cheaper.

You cant put a patent on a RC car unless there is something inovative about it. The fact of the mater is that these people across seas are getting parts off the tooling that HPI paid for and undercutting HPI by selling direct to the end user. This happens in all industries where parts are manufactured in china. It is a HUGE problem.

I am sorry i don't want to make any war here. but i have to say yes we copied from HPI,but they HPI hasn't enough patents on the car. so it is still legality after we make a little differences.
if you support HPI,it is very good. but if you want to pay less money but enjoy in the playing. it is reasonable also.

It's the same for XTM, look at the excellerator electric, you might as well call it a t4, cause of how identical it is, nothing new here, it's just being called an HPI, so that might have some copyright conflicts with HPI, but for 400 bucks that pretty good for a 1/5 scale car, if the engine, radio, servos, and chassis are of good quality.

400 bucks "plus" 200 to ship it. That is what they said to the people who emailed them.

it is depend on where are you. the freight from USD120-USD250.
So we always sell to importers not the last user.because we can send them by sea.the freight will be very cheap.i think everyone knew this.
