Hi everyone, I'm currently trying to control a brushless speed controller with a microprocessor. So I need to know the exact signal input i need to give to the brushless ESC. So these are my questions:
1.The pulse frequency, what is the range?
2.The pulse itself, is't a normal square wave? Just like the servo pulses?
3.The red wire with the signals, what voltage does it take?
I am assuming my ESC is quite standard as all it says is plug onto the throttle on the RX and it will work.
Thanks for your help.

Most esc-s have a built-in bec as well. The red wire is the +5V output of the bec, it's the power supply of the receiver and servos. It's usable as the Vcc of your uC.
The yellow wire is the signal, same as the servo pulses. The pulse length is from 1ms (zero throttle) to 2ms (full throttle). The repetition time is 20 ms.
It's a positive pulse, I mean 0 Volt for 19ms then 5V for 1ms.
The black wire is the Gnd.

The pulse is exactly like a standard servo pulse because that's what it is. A normal receiver has no idea whether it's driving a servo or an ESC, it produces the same signal. The signal is between 5V and ground. The ground wire is usually brown or black, the signal wire is white, orange or yellow.

thanks guys. Just thought throttle output is slightly different from the servos.

Hi Madmanlive
I am interested in a reversing brushless ESC.
There is little out there other than the ready made units which cost a arm and a leg.
I would like to know is this Esc you are making will be revisable.
If so would you mind sharing your knowledge??.

hi hargard, I'm not making a ESC, I'm simply buying one off the shelf and attempting to control it using a micro-controller instead of a RX.
as far as i know i won't be able to reverse my motor with it. but i believe for the ESC itself reversing would not be hard, it is just a matter of sending output in a reverse order, so one of those diy ESC out there should do the job with a little modification.
hope i'm right and not misleading you

Hi guys
Any one here have schematic of pulse generator/modulator that capable to control
brushless ESC ?
Thank you

What MCU do you want to use.. I have some code.
