I just got a new electric motor. HXT 50-55. Rated at 1300 watts (which I doubt). The motor came with a 10 MM prop shaft. That's a tad bigger then 3/8" I think.

The supplier recommends 12/8 or 14/?. Depends which KV I have. No markings so I have to test it.

Browsing though most of the available props like APC electric or even glo/gas I see really skinny id holes like 3/16 or 1/4". There is not enough meat to drill or ream these out to 10mm. A few of the wood props look like they have enough meat to ream out but it's a long way from 1/4" to 3/8".

Any suggestions on what prop to use that will fit a 10mm shaft size? On big electric models does anyone use glo props?

You can drill an APC or a XOAR to 10MM. Yes, 10MM is excessively large for 1300W. I have an ELE (I think it's the same motor) which I'm supposed to test, but it came with that stupid 10mm adaptor and even if it's the best motor on Earth, who wants to deal with all of the customer service hassles of people having to drill their props to 10mm?!?

You get what you pay for in most cases...

The 8mm radial mount prop shaft that is available at hobby-lobby for the axi 4120 will fit directly on this motor...

From the pictures of a 4120 it appears the adapter uses a 3 hole pattern. The 50-55 uses a 4 hole mount. I don't think they are interchangeable.

The next series up (5000) uses a 4 hole mount, but the odds of having an identical bolt pattern are slim. Sure would solve the problem however.

Are you sure the 4120 will fit the HXT 50-55A?

Dusty - I've looked through all of our prop adaptors, and I think the ELE/UH 10mm adaptor is a unique and useless part. If yours is like mine, then there's another problem - the concentric location of the adaptor to the bell is not done by the screws, it's done by a lip on the outside edge of the adaptor, making it doubly unlikely that anyone else's adaptor will fit.
