Hi,
I've got a JR Quattro Transmitter that I would like to also use for flight sims on my PC. What would be the best way to go about doing that?
I was thinking of making my own cable to save money, but I would need someone to tell me how to do that. Is it as simple as splicing toghet a male usb and a male 3.5 audio connector together?
Has anyone bought one of the cables off of faraz99? I was thinking about that as another option.
Then, how would I get my PC to recognize the transmitter as a game controller?
Or should I just fork out the money for a dedicated usb transmitter?
Thanks,
Markag

Definitely not that simple. The TX output is a pulse stream. There is software to take this output into a soundcard. See the first thread in this forum for maikng a USB interface. There are cheap ones on eBay and from GWS.

PC Simulator Interface USB Cable for Hitec JR Futaba Sanwa Zebra & Kyosho Perfex (http://www.acehobby.co.nz/ossb2/root/OSSBEC1/showitem.asp?PID=52310) is the best and works out being the cheapest by the time all the parts are sourced and made to work as well as this unit.

Markag,
If you have a read of the Sticky post (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508122) above you'll see that you need to use a microchip to handle the encoding of the signal from the transmitter to the PC's USB port. Its not as simple as connecting a 3.5mm jack plug on the end of a USB cable.
If you are not bothered about USB, then you can use a cable terminated with a 3.5mm jack plug on each end and plug it into a sound card, and then use a virtual joystick appliaction to control the sim, but I have my reservations about this as some transmitters send 9.6v from the trainer port which can't do the soundcard any good.
To be honest, IMO you would be better of purchasing a ready built USB interface such as the Milehigh wings range or from any leading on-line model sites (tower hobbies, etc) - its just not cost effective to make your own these days unless you already have the programming tools etc to do so
