I posted this once a long while ago elsewhere, and I don't know if it will be welcome here, but the motor and battery setup that everyone threw away when the cox viper conversions were hot was just the thing to power a small rubber FF model.

I had a guillows super cub kit lying around then, so I tried it and was pleasantly surprised.

It had plenty of power, the right sized prop, and flights last about as long as a person would want to chase the dang thing.

It flew fairly fast, being fairly heavy as only a guillows model can be, but it lands fine, since it just slowly loses power.

30 second recharge and its ready to go again.

I can imagine a light plane would be even better!

Forgive me if this is old hat, I haven't been here before.

Try to find HiLine products, Hillsboro NC; my listing for it is "Skyhooks and Rigging" but I think it is a Canadian outfit, for whatever that means. They have a selection of drives from the Mini 4 up to 50w fans, mostly aimed at freeflighters. Sounds to me like the Mini 4 may be the beast: it's cheap and you can get just the drive or the complete setup. It's good for 60 to 160 sq in area, and the Mini 6 is the next step, up to 250 sq in.
