Is it possible to make a refillable water tank for a water cannon?
I have made a (very) rough MS paint diagram on an idea that I've been thinking on.

Why?.. why do you need a water 'tank' inside the boat when there is an abundance of water surrounding the boat?..
Just use a water pickup like the fast Gas / Nitro boys use directly in to the pump and out through the monitor.
Using a tank in the boat (filling and emptying) will also alter the 'trim' of your boat by the way, unless the tank is right on the C/G

Agree with Toes. Just use a water pickup below the waterline and the pump and squirt away. I put one in a harbor tug and located the pickup down by the keel. No sense in messing with thetrim/ballast of the boat.

So basically, I just pump directly from the source?
Is this possible to do while moving at high speeds?

Especially! Racers use water pickups for cooling motors.
But note that fine nozzles and valves can get clogged with biotic flotsam... a screen is a good idea, unless you have a big pump and flow passages.

Here are the water pick ups for three of the boats I have built.
The screens and filters are a good idea..

For my pickups I use a 10-32 flat head plastic bolt that has a hole drilled thru it's entire length. The screw slot has been ground down flush. The hull is drilled with a 3/16" hole and countersunk for the bolt head. It is then inserted thru the hull and glued in place and a nut on the backside holds it in place. A 10-32 tubing barb (Clippard) is threaded on the end of the bolt from the inside. The hull is finished smooth over the bolt head leaving only a small hole visible.
