Atair Aerospace is currently interviewing for Aerodynamicist / Designer positions.

We have an immediate opportunity for a low-speed aerodynamicist in our New York office to work on R&D projects with government agencies in an interesting and dynamic environment.

The work to begin will be primarily centered on our DARPA X-Wing contract.

The X-Wing is a turbine powered, parachute integrated, composite Wing Suit for a military HAHO parachutist (basically a miniature jet powered wing worn like a back pack for extended travel during free fall, landing is via parachute).

Please respond with CV to jobs@atairaerospace.com with "Aerodynamicist" as the e-mail subject.
No attachments please; send only as in-line text.

Sounds like a great job! Do you get to test out your own designs? :-) Wasn't there a bond movie recently where they flew these sorts of things. Too bad I'm scared of heights (and not an aerodynamicist.) Seems like a pretty unique opportunity for the right person.

I guess someone at Darpa has seen vids of that guy flying around the Alps with a four-turbine powered wing on his back! Sounds like a fun job ok, especially if you get to do some test flying. Remember Leo Valentin, who used to do it with glider wings? Came unstuck big time when the auto wing lock didn't.

I like the thought of testing something like that, but I'm really allergic to jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.

I suspect that shortly after jumping out of that good airplane, people will be shooting at you, to test whether the thing is agile enough to evade ground fire!

Well I highly doubt that anyone besides cannon meat would be flight testing these things, definitely not the head designer ;)

And since this seems like half government job it means there is not much fun factor left and a lot of bureaucracy etc.

Good luck with it though.
