Will a fast electric cope with a little weed?, well a little more than a little. My local pond is full of weed, it tends to come to the surface in summer.
Is there a weed eating prop or boat out there?
It's a lot of work to remove it by hand....
Any ideas...

It's a great way to stall your motor, burn out your ESC and trash your prop. No answers, except using an airboat.

(So obvious that I'm almost embarrassed to mention it) but if the weed is single-cellular then it shouldn't matter but I suppose you're talking about stuff with long stems etc where it would very much matter. Sharpen your props!!!!

Fish keepers call it Oxygen weed I think, it's bloody thickstuff, aybe a good fast sharp prop will chern through it, ...but that was my question.

It does not seem to matter how sharp your prop is or how powerful your motor. Weeds or leaves floating on or just below the surface will get wrapped around your prop and eventually stall your motor.

purplebaron, check with your local authorities ...environmental types and Natural Resources Commision types to determine whether or not you may be able to apply a certain weed killer into the pond. Good luck. John Z.

I do not need to worry about weeds in my local pond. They have drained it for the winter!

The pond is artificial and is made of concrete. I think they drain it to prevent the concrete being damaged when the water freezes. Also, it stops the kids from venturing out on to thin ice. There are no weeds in the water but plenty of leaves in the Autumn, plus the odd plastic bag.

Ah, Ice, we don't get that here (New Zealand - North Island). It gets a bit chilly, but the lakes/ponds never ice up, if your hard enough, you can swim all year round. (you gotta be a trooper).
Oh well
