I am thinking of constructing an airframe from scratch. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to model the aerodynamics accurately. Things like wing size,lift/drag, what aerofoil section to use etc. Appreciate any leads

Hello
This is the UAV sub forum.
But take a look at this link its not the best but a good place to
start and understand the aspects in your questions.

you might want to think about buying a wing kit from someone like Stevens Aero. That's the hard part, then the task becomes a lot simpler. The SQuiRT 400 http://www.stevensaero.com/shop/product.php?productid=16601 or 700 http://www.stevensaero.com/shop/product.php?productid=18317 aileron wing kits are only $30 or $44 respectively.

there are a few threads about that in this forum, if you look further down, you'll see some threads about twin boom airframes. If you look in the aerial photography forum, you'll find a lot more scratch built airframes.
But as was stated above, if you are interested in designing a plane from scratch, the real experts are in the modelling science forum for the most part. Of course, they can be rather intimidating. Not sure what issues that uav's have that they can't help you solve for yourself.
I found a spreadsheet a while back, too bad I can't find a link. Here is a good start:
