I am considering this prodedure, and was wondering if anyone here has had it done. What were your results and would recommend it? Jim

My brother had it done about six months ago. He said it was miserable the first couple of days after the procedure but would do it again. He’s now got nearly 20/20 vision and loves not having to wear contacts or glasses.

I got my eyes done with Lasik waaaaaaaaaay back in '97 when it wasn't an FDA approved procedure in the U.S. It was dubbed "expirimental", even though they had been doing it in Canada and elsewhere for 5-7 years before. A bit spendy at $4200.00, but worth every penny!!!!
I had worn glasses and contacts for the better part of thirty years and was SICK of it, contacts were cool, but having allergies and working as an auto technician made it quite painful at times.
My eyes were 20-200 or so before, 20-10 after. I had the procedure done on Friday, and was back at work on Monday. The single biggest issue I had was "flare", or the halo seen from tailights at night, but I've gotten used to it. One of the best things is, I can buy decent sunglasses on sale for $39.00 instead of $400.00!!!
The doc that did my eyes was one of three doc's licensed to do corneal transplants in California at the time, so that may have helped my excellent results.
Do yourself a favor and do some research on the service that you're thinking of using, you only have ONE set of eyes. There are also non surgical procedures as well, small plastic splints that focus the eye, but either way, Do it, after you've done your homework, and you should be happy with the outcome. Chris

My brother had it done a couple years back and he is well satisfied. Me, on the other hand always gets 2 and even 3 sets of glasses made before I find one that works right. I'd hate to get laser surgery done just to ask to have it done again. Is that even possible? Don't know -- And don't want to find out.

The beauty of Lasik is that your eyes heal with little or no scar tissue, not like the ancient R.K. method. I guess you could have it done more than once. My doc said I could wear contacts if needed due to aging. The bad???? thing about Lasik is that it will not prevent you from losing closeup vision due to age, I'm 45 and about ready to get some reading glasses, as I'm having trouble focusing on small things. Sounds good. I will check the surgeon VERY carefully before I make a final decision. Thanks, Jim

My eyes were 20-200
Mine are about that too
The single biggest issue I had was "flare", or the halo seen from tailights at night, but I've gotten used to it.
I had that problem with contact lenses, I had them for about a year and decided to quit using them because of it. My eyes felt "naked" too whenever I didn't wear glasses, and I had to wear sunglasses anyway when cycling, so contacts were pointless.
No way I'd ever get laser surgery done just because of the unknown problems that might come later......I can't sing or play the piano, so I'd be unemployable if I were to go blind.

The halo isnt going to happen to everyone, but it is a risk. My father's friend loves it, he now has 20/15.

I had this done 2 years ago and have had no problems. There was no discomfort during or after the procedure. Just take a couple extra days off from work, your vision will be a bit blurry. I have never heard of anyone having any problems with the procedure and have talked a few of my co-workers into doing this, they all wish they had done it years earlier. Everyone I have talked to and including myself have not experienced the halo even though they tell you it could happen. I would go in again to have this done if needed.

I have pretty bad allergies and take shots for them, along with dry eyes, sinus issues and related headaches associated with said allergies. That's one of the major reasons I had my eyes done, I just couldn't wear contacts any more due to chronic dry and red eyes. I probably had the halo effect all along, but my vision was too poor to realize it until after the surgery!!! Alocril eye drops work wonders too. Chris
